1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: email address and authentication credentials when you sign up.
  • Manuscript content: book outlines, chapters, brainstorm sessions, and related metadata you create through the Service.
  • Usage data: AI token usage, feature interactions, and session information to improve the Service.
  • Payment information: billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Process AI requests to generate and refine your manuscript content.
  • Process payments and manage your subscription.
  • Send transactional emails related to your account and usage.
  • Monitor usage for abuse prevention and system reliability.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored across the following services:

  • Supabase: account data, project metadata, job records, and usage tracking are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase with row-level security.
  • GitHub: your manuscript files (outlines, chapters, reviews) are stored in private repositories on the manuscrypt-ai GitHub organization. Only you and our service have access.

4. AI Processing

Your manuscript content is sent to the Anthropic API (Claude) for processing when you use AI features such as brainstorming, outline generation, chapter drafting, and reviews. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their own privacy policy and data processing terms. We do not use your content to train AI models.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. These cookies are required for the Service to function. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

6. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third-party services as necessary to operate the Service:

  • Stripe: payment processing and subscription management.
  • GitHub: manuscript file storage in private repositories.
  • Supabase: database hosting and authentication.
  • Anthropic: AI content generation via the Claude API.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and manuscript content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Export your manuscript content.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
